As global climate negotiations convene in Belém, Brazil, Novatron Fusion Group is preparing to present its latest developments in fusion energy at COP30. The Swedish-based company, attending in partnership with Finland’s St1 Nordic Oy, aims to position fusion as a long-term component of the global clean-energy transition.
Novatron and St1 representatives say their presence at the summit is intended to foster dialogue between scientists, industry leaders, and policymakers. According to the companies, their shared objective is to help reduce reliance on fossil fuels while addressing rising global energy demand — a central theme expected to shape several discussions at this year’s conference.
A key event during the week will be Novatron’s panel, “Is Fusion the Gamechanger We’ve Been Waiting For?”, which will examine the potential role of fusion energy in meeting international climate targets. The session will also address the challenges facing the field, including technological readiness, investment needs, and regulatory frameworks.
Confirmed panelists include:
→ Caroline Anderson, Director of External Affairs at the Fusion Industry Association
→ Rebecca Tremain, UK Director at the Clean Air Task Force
→ Lea Rankinen, Head of Sustainability and Corporate Affairs at St1 Nordic Oy
→ Peter Roos, CEO of Novatron Fusion Group AB
→ Mårten Löfberg, Director of Public Affairs at Novatron Fusion Group AB
Additional speakers are expected to be announced before the event.
Beyond the panel, Novatron Fusion Group and St1 will co-host the COP30 Fusion Energy Mingle, featuring remarks from Sakari Puisto, Finland’s Minister of Economic Affairs, and Mattias Frumerie, Sweden’s Climate Ambassador. The gathering is intended to create space for informal discussions on fusion’s emerging role within global climate strategy.
Representatives from Novatron Fusion Group will share updates throughout the conference as fusion technology continues to gain visibility in international climate forums.
