Novatron Fusion Group has appeared at the Swedish British Summit 2023 in London held in the presence of TRH The Crown Princess and Prince Daniel of Sweden.
The Nordics’ first and only fusion energy developer is rapidly advancing its technology to provide a limitless supply of safe, affordable and reliable emissions-free energy.
Novatron CEO Peter Roos joined the panel discussion: “Can fusion save our future?” alongside Dr Valerie Jamieson, Development Manager at UK Atomic Energy Authority, The Fusion Cluster.
The broader conference staged by the Swedish Chamber of Commerce in the UK involved contributions from Imperial College London, NATO, Saab, Vattenfall, Skanska, Microsoft, Volvo, IKEA, Electrolux and the University of Oxford. The keynote was delivered by Tom Standage, Deputy Editor from The Economist and Editor of The World Ahead.
“The Swedish British Summit provides a unique setting to meet business leaders, entrepreneurs, politicians and academics, including some of the greatest thinkers from both Sweden and the UK, committed to pushing the boundaries and bringing new ideas and solutions to the table,” said Peter. “We were thrilled to be able to join a panel discussion focusing purely on fusion power and its potential to solve some of humanity’s greatest challenges – including growing demand for energy and accelerating climate change. With the exponential speed of technological advancements in the last decade, fusion is now firmly moving from the R&D conceptual stage to engineering and industrialisation. Being fully committed to the green transition and future net zero investments, Novatron Fusion Group is preparing to play an instrumental part in transforming our society.”
Earlier in the week, Novatron Fusion Group held discussions with Labour MP for North Ealing and Shadow Financial Secretary James Murray, with around 20 delegates from across politics, finance and industry. CEO Peter Roos provided an overview of the UK’s strong position in the field of fusion energy and its market potential, while highlighting the positive reputation of the UK’s Fusion Cluster strategy from a wider European and global perspective. He further used the platform to request the UK Labour Party’s stance on fusion industry development and if it is considering Private Public Partnerships, deemed of critical importance to keep pace with the USA.
Novatron’s concept is the brainchild of Swedish inventor and entrepreneur, Jan Jäderberg. It is currently being developed by world-leading physicists, engineers and academics at the new Novatron Lab, housed within the former Alfvén Laboratory at KTH Royal Institute of Technology in Sweden.
With ambitions to develop economically viable fusion energy by the 2030s, the firm recently secured EUR 5 million to accelerate pre-commercial prototypes. The company’s solution aims to increase reliability and reduce the current capital and operational cost profiles of its fusion reactors, relative to alternative solutions.
Serving 400 Member companies, the Swedish Chamber of Commerce in the UK is the largest and oldest Swedish Chamber in the world, and one of the largest and most active foreign Chambers in the UK.
